Smart Card Fare Collection for Transit Operators

The vision guiding BEA’s development of its smart card transit fare collection system was to create a standard smart card solution with ‘out-of-the-box’ comprehensive functionality that is easy to configure, simple to modify, flexible to operate, intuitive to run and most importantly affordable to acquire and to operate. Because each BEA smart card system is based on the same comprehensive software solution suite, the level of development effort required to adapt the standard BEA solution to any particular application is usually minimal. In most instances, the adaptation effort is more one of configuration than new development.
